Some Benefits of Blown-In Insulation
April 30, 2016
When you are planning on renovating the insulation system of your house, there are a number of implementation techniques you can consider. The most common is the use of an insulation blowing machine, batt insulation and spray foam. Insulation blowing machines have a number of comparative advantages over the other two options. We will touch on each of them briefly below.
- Blown-in insulation is more efficient: Studies have shown that loose-fill insulation is typically 22% more effective than fiberglass batts of the same R value.
- Blown-in installation is relatively quick and easy: Usually, two installers can insulate a whole house in just a few hours using an insulation blowing machine; while one is feeding the material into the blowing machine in the truck, the other will be spreading the insulation from the other end of the hose. Batting, in contrast, will take a lot more time and effort.
- Blown-in insulation is a great investment: The resulting savings on energy costs add up over the years to come, bringing a considerable return on the money you’ve invested into insulation.
